David J Walton Assistant County Commissioner - Activities |
|
|
A warranted member of the Scout Association since 1982, I worked as an Assistant Venture Scout Leader when I first joined the movement. I have since worked as an Assistant Scout Leader, Scout Leader, District Scout Leader, Assistant District Commissioner Scouts at various times and most recently Assistant County Commissioner Scouts from October 2002 to September 2007. I enjoy sailing my International 505 and am interested in archery, walking and climbing. I am married and have two children. My wife Melanie, who I met whilst working on a Group Gangshow works within our Sister organisation as a Brown Owl. Gemma is at university and Daniel is an Explorer Scout. I am a member of the Association of Accounting Technicians and have been a qualified member since the summer of 2000. My skills are put to good use keeping the accounting records for an engineering company based near Leeds. The activity team will promote and support activities across the County at all levels whether provided by Humberside Scouts or outside agencies. I intend to review and be innovative regarding activity provision at Raywell Park working in conjunction with the Raywell team. We will also work with all District personnel to ensure that the Activity Permit Scheme is fully implemented and supported at our earliest opportunity. The Nights Away permit scheme was review in 2007 and the changes need implementing as soon as possible.
