Mike Grayson

ACC District Support West

I have been involved in Scouting pretty well since joining 1st Standish Cubs (Wigan and District) in 1974. I worked through Scouts, gaining my Chief Scouts Award at 14 and Venture Scouts before becoming Assistant Scout Leader there in 1987. I also spent a year with 1 st Standish as acting Group Scout Leader in 1991.

Moving to Huddersfield with work in 1992 I became ASL again at 39 th Huddersfield (Parkwood Methodist). I left Scouting in 1995 when work moved me to Newcastle Upon Tyne.

In 2003 I joined the Group Executive for 1 st Snaith (Boothferry District) having moved to the area with my family. A year later I made my promise again and became AGSL and later ASL too. I also became involved behind the scenes in Boothferry District serving as District Executive member, Training Adviser and as acting District Treasurer for a year.

Appointed as ACC District Support in January 2008 my new role is to assist the Boothferry and Haltemprice DCs in creating and implementing development plans that will take the districts forward into a new century of Scouting. I also support the Hull Kingston Scout Group. This group is unique being affiliated direct to County rather than a district and provides high quality Scouting for those with special needs.

Married with two step children, I am also a private pilot, and ex racing driver and have a keen interest in walking. Coming from Wigan, I also eat pies.
