Get the Badge.\nOur Scouts Mechanics Badge Day is all about practical skills\, problem-solving and understanding how things work. \nThis focused badge day gives Scouts the chance to work through the Mechanics badge requirements in a hands-on\, supportive environment led by experienced volunteers. It’s practical learning with real tools\, real tasks and real outcomes. \nWhat They’ll Be Doing\nThroughout the day\, Scouts will take part in activities designed to meet the criteria of the Mechanics badge\, including: \n– Learning about basic engine components and how they work\n– Understanding routine vehicle checks\n– Exploring simple maintenance tasks\n– Looking at tool identification and safe use\n– Learning how to spot common faults and issues \nActivities will be age-appropriate\, safety-led and structured to build both knowledge and confidence. \nWhy It Matters\nThe Mechanics badge isn’t just about vehicles. It helps Scouts to: \n– Develop practical problem-solving skills\n– Build confidence using tools correctly\n– Understand responsibility and safety\n– Gain life skills they can use beyond Scouting \nBy the end of the day\, Scouts will have made strong progress towards completing their badge and gained a better understanding of the mechanics behind everyday transport. \nPlaces are expected to be popular\, so please complete the booking form: Scouts Mechanics Badge Day – Fill out form \nTools ready. Minds engaged.

SUMMARY:Sleepover at Hull Minster
DESCRIPTION:For the first time ever\, Hull Minster is opening it’s doors overnight and they have kindly invited us to attend the first ever Hull Minster Sleepover! \nHull Minster is an amazing 700 year old building and is pretty incredible for history as well as the architecture. Everyone will get to go on a tour and learn about the history of the Minster\, enjoy a chat about the unique architecture of the Minster\, write a prayer of thanks\, and take part in some interesting activities and crafts. There is an audio tour available as well if anyone would prefer this. There are artifacts to look at and hold and some archeological digging to be done to find some artifacts! We may even be able to go up the bell tower! \nThis sleepover is open to all sections and will offer everyone the chance to gain a night away\, work towards the Faith badges and Local Knowledge. Sections will need to bring enough adult volunteers to meet their section ratios. Every adult volunteer will need to have a valid DBS in place and must have completed their Safety and Safeguarding training. Details of this can be found under My Membership on the Scouts website\, or email events@humbersidescouts.org.uk for more details. \nThe Minster was recently vandalised\, and they need to raise a lot of money to do the repairs. They have have reached out to us to offer this amazing opportunity for our young people. \nEvent details \nGroups are to meet outside Hull Minster on Sunday 30th August ready to enter at 6pm.
