DESCRIPTION:Join the Water Activities Team for a sailing taster session with your Section! \nSailing Sessions are suitable for Beavers\, Cubs\, Scouts and Explorers. \n  \nThere are 2 sessions available over the day: \n\nAM session: 09:30 – 12:00\nPM session: 12:30 – 15:00\n\nScout and Explorer Sections are welcome to book both sessions on the same day if they wish to spend the whole day on the water. Beavers and Cubs should choose a session or change the young people in between sessions. \n  \nSailing Sessions are £32 per boat\, which can hold a maximum of 4 young people in. \nYou will be charged per boat used on the day\, with a maximum of 12 young people over 3 boats (maximum cost of £96). \n  \nPersonal details required and permission to take part in the session will be collected by OSM\, if your Section has the Parent Portal and Events features. SUMMARY:Young Leader Training - Module K
DESCRIPTION:A chance for Young Leaders to gain a First Response certificate which covers the requirements of Module K for the YL Scheme. This qualification can also be carried over to their Adult Leader Training. \nIf a Young Leader already has Stage 4 (or above) of the Emergency Aid Badge\, then they do not need to complete this course as well.  \nBookings\nWe use an online system called Online Scout Manager to easily coordinate all our admin for Young Leader Training. It is a safe\, secure and GDPR compliant system that saves Leaders a lot of time and it also saves a lot of paper. This system also has a portal for Parents/Guardians to access and provide us with all the details we need\, without having to complete any paper forms. \nIf you have booked onto a Training Weekend through OSM before\, and you need to complete one or more of the Modules being delivered on this weekend\, then you will receive an email inviting you\, direct from OSM. \nIf you haven’t booked on to a YL Training weekend through OSM before\, then parents/carers should email yladmin@humbersidescouts.org.uk Please note\, this email must come from a parent/carer\, not the Young Leader.  \nThe closing date for booking is Friday 29th May.  \nCost\nYoung Leader Training is free of charge to all Young Leaders in Humberside County. \nHowever\, you still need to book on via OSM and the County reserve the right to make a charge of £10 per person for any places booked where people do not turn up or cancel prior to the training date\, with short notice.  \nPlaces cancelled after Friday 29th May are subject to the £10 charge. \nWhat to bring\nEveryone will need a packed lunch with them and drinks will be provided throughout the day.  \nPlease wear something comfortable for taking part in the training and your necker. \nIf you already have a YL Logbook\, then please bring that with you to be signed off. Real teamwork. \nThe question is simple: can you survive the weekend? \nWhat You’ll Be Taking On\nOver the course of the weekend\, you’ll work through practical survival scenarios\, including: \n– Building and sleeping in your own shelter\n– Firelighting and controlled burning techniques\n– Finding and preparing food safely\n– Exploring fishing skills (where conditions allow)\n– Water sourcing and purification basics\n– Cooking over open fires\n– Working as a team under pressure \nThis is hands-on\, practical Scouting at its most stripped back.
