SUMMARY:Sleepover at Hull Minster
DESCRIPTION:For the first time ever\, Hull Minster is opening it’s doors overnight and they have kindly invited us to attend the first ever Hull Minster Sleepover! \nHull Minster is an amazing 700 year old building and is pretty incredible for history as well as the architecture. Everyone will get to go on a tour and learn about the history of the Minster\, enjoy a chat about the unique architecture of the Minster\, write a prayer of thanks\, and take part in some interesting activities and crafts. There is an audio tour available as well if anyone would prefer this. There are artifacts to look at and hold and some archeological digging to be done to find some artifacts! We may even be able to go up the bell tower! \nThis sleepover is aimed at Squirrels\, Beavers and Cubs and will offer everyone the chance to gain a night away\, work towards the Faith badges and Local Knowledge. Sections will need to bring enough adult volunteers to meet their section ratios. Every adult volunteer will need to have a valid DBS in place and must have completed their Safety and Safeguarding training. Details of this can be found under My Membership on the Scouts website\, or email events@humbersidescouts.org.uk for more details. \nThe Minster was recently vandalised\, and they need to raise a lot of money to do the repairs. They have have reached out to us to offer this amazing opportunity for our young people. \nEvent details \nGroups are to meet outside Hull Minster on Sunday 30th August ready to enter at 6pm. You will be welcomed by the County Events Team. We will then say goodbye to anyone not staying over and head into the Minster for the evening. We will have tour of the Minster\, take part in activities\, do some crafting\, and eat our evening meal before settling down for some sleep (maybe!). \nIn the morning we will have breakfast and at 8am Reverend Dominic will be in for Morning Prayer. He will ring the bell and live streams this from the chancel. It is only for 20 minutes and we are welcome to join or just sit and listen. We will collect our bags ready for departure at 8:30am. It is Bank Holiday Monday which is a good thing! \nBookings\nBookings are now open! Please fill out this form to book your Section onto the Sleepover – Sleepover Booking Form \nWhat to Bring\nEveryone will need to bring a pack up to eat as their evening meal. Breakfast will be provided on the Sunday morning and will consist of a pastry\, fruit\, and cereal. Please list any special dietary requirements on the booking form. \nWe will be sleeping on the floor of the Minster (well hopefully there will be some sleep!) \nEveryone will need to bring: \n\nPack up with an evening meal\nDrinks bottle\nSquirrel/Beaver/Cub jumper\nNecker\nPyjamas (essential)\nSleeping bag\nRoll mat – self inflating air beds are fine but no large inflatable beds please as there isn’t enough space. Everyone must have their own roll mat/bed – no sharing with adults and young people\nPillow\nTeddy (optional)\nToothbrush and toothpaste\nChange of underwear\nSpare clothes (just in case)\n\nHow much does it cost?\nThe cost per person for the event is £22.50. This includes the event fees\, the activities and resources\, breakfast\, snacks\, and a special badge just for the event! Groups will be sent an invoice and payment must be made by 15th August 2026. Please collect the fees from your group and send as one payment to the County. All payments are non-refundable. Anyone dropping out after 25th August will still need to be paid for in full. We cannot offer refunds for those that do not attend as we have to pay Hull Minster for the places booked on this date\, based on the numbers given. \nAny questions?\nPlease get in touch if you have any questions about the event – events@humbersidescouts.org.uk. If your group needs any sleeping bags or roll mats for their young people\, please get in touch as we may be able to help.
