There’s nothing quite like getting out on the water — and a group of eager Cubs recently had the chance to do just that during an exciting session with the Humberside Scouts Water Activities Team, joined by members of Hessle Scout Group.
The session gave Cubs a hands-on introduction to kayaking, combining practical paddling skills with essential lessons in water safety. From learning how to handle a paddle to manoeuvring their kayaks around the water, the young people picked up new skills with confidence and enthusiasm.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing — and that was part of the fun! Cubs also got to experience capsizing safely (on purpose!), learning how to stay calm and in control if they end up in the water. And of course, there was plenty of laughter during the much-loved moment where they got to jump in just for fun 🌊
Sessions like these are not only packed with adventure — they help Cubs build confidence, teamwork, and respect for water safety in a safe, supervised environment. A big thank you to the Water Team for running a brilliant session and to Hessle Scout Group for joining in on the splash-filled learning!
Whether it’s paddling on calm waters or taking the plunge, these experiences help shape the Scouts of tomorrow with practical skills and plenty of memories.
