What is the Explorer Belt Award?
The Explorer Belt is a chance to take part in a ten day expedition that brings you a real understanding of a different country, its culture and way of life.
As part of a team, you will undertake a 10-day expedition as part of a team outside of the UK with a minimum travelling time of 50 hours over the 10 days, by foot, cycle, horse, canoe, boat or dinghy.
During your expedition, you will complete one major project, and ten minor projects. You will also show your competence in a number of key skills.
All Participants need to be registered with Scout Headquarters prior to taking part in an Explorer Belt
There are two types of Explorer Belts available to participants:
Leader Supported Explorer Belts
Available to Explorers over the age of 16 and Network members.
Following the success of the Explorer Belt trip to Vietnam in 2025, the County team are in the process of making preparations for future County supported Explorer Belts. More information coming soon.
Self Led Explorer Belts
Available to Network members only
