County Camp - The final word!

County Camp - The final word!

We asked Alan Hayward, our Camp Chief to have the final word on the County Scout Camp help in May.... Here's what he had to say....

I was really pleased with the way the recent camp went.  We had c250 scouts from 21 Troops in camp with representatives from all Districts in the County. The activities the scouts and their leaders were all exceptional and and true credit to Scouting in Humberside. Without exception the comments that I have received  were very positive with strong supportive messages from Ian Chappell, our Regional Commissioner who visited us on the Saturday and Kester Sharpe, our Deputy UK Chief Commissioner who visited us on the Sunday evening.

We were also  blessed with great weather for early May.

As part of our Scouting tradition, during the camp, we were pleased to invest two leaders from South Holderness and present a Chief Scouts Gold Award to a Scout from Blacktoft Beacon.

My thanks to all the leaders, activity staff,first-aiders, our staff catering team and Humberside Scout Communication Team, who were busy washing out the Portaloos very late into the night amongst a host of other tasks but my greatest thanks goes to all the Scouts who took part in everything  with enthusiasm and with smiles on their faces.

It was  our CC of the last few years, Liz’s last major County event and our Scouts gave her  the best possible send off.

Looking forward to the next camp...

Raywell is booked for 2019 so we’re going to do it all again in two years time. Dates for Diddy Men 3 are Friday 3rd May to Monday 6th May 2019 when my fabulous competition prizes will be even more fabulous than before

I have received some suggestions for improvements to the programme and will take these on board for 2019.

Towards the end of the summer of 2018, the team will be get together and start the planning process so if  you want to come on board the organising team or have any suggestions for 2019, please let me know. In the interim its over to Steph, our ACC Cubs, and her team to run the County Cub Camp in 2018.

Thanks to all for the tremendous support and lets go for 500 Scouts in camp  in 2019
