The 5th Beverley Wesley Scout Group has headed into the great outdoors for our annual Winter Camp, based at Raywell Park Activity Centre. With bags unpacked and boots on, the weekend got off to a cracking start as Cubs and Scouts settled into camp, ready for a full programme of challenges and shared experiences.

The Beavers will be joining the adventure shortly, and the excitement is already building as the whole group comes together for a proper winter Scouting weekend.

Teamwork, Ingenuity and a Bit of Chaos

The first evening set the tone with a homemade Taskmaster-style challenge. It was all about working together, thinking on your feet, and finding creative solutions with whatever was to hand.

There were plenty of laughs, some unexpected results, and a lot of pride in seeing young people back each other up and have a go. Exactly what Scouting is all about.

What’s Next Around Camp

With the camp now in full swing, the rest of the weekend is packed with classic Scouting moments:

  • Adventurous activities that push confidence and skills
  • New experiences away from home
  • Time spent learning practical life skills in a fun, supportive setting

As evening falls, there’s also time to slow things down with songs around the campfire, before switching gears for a much-anticipated Mario Kart Grand Prix. Friendly competition guaranteed.

Thinking About Joining In?

Weekends like this show what Scouting can offer: challenge, friendship, independence, and memories that stick. None of it would happen without dedicated volunteers giving their time and energy to make it work.

If you think Scouting might be for you or your young person, we’d love to welcome you.
