Ever watched a group of Scouts throwing axes or scaling a climbing wall and thought, “I wish I knew how to lead that”? Well, now is your chance! We are thrilled to announce the return of Skills Matter, the ultimate ‘Have a Go’ day designed exclusively for our amazing Humberside volunteers.
What is Skills Matter?
Skills Matter isn’t about sitting in a hall listening to presentations. It’s a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground day at Raywell Park where you get to be the adventurer. Whether you’re a seasoned leader or brand new to the movement, this day is all about giving you the confidence to bring new skills back to your section.
What’s on the Menu?
We’ve packed the day with activities that will level up your Scouting game. You can look forward to:
- Target Sports: Master the art of Axe Throwing and Archery.
- High Peaks: Scale the Climbing Wall or explore the Cave Bus.
- Back to Basics: Sharp skills with Knife work and fire lighting.
- Top Awards: Get the lowdown on DofE and King’s Scout Awards.
- Creative & Digital: Dive into arts, crafts, and the latest digital tools to make your admin life easier.
Why You Should Be There
The best way to inspire our young people is to be inspired ourselves! This is a relaxed, no-pressure environment to connect with other leaders from across the county, grab a coffee, and try something you’ve never done before. The best part? It’s completely free!
You’ll leave with a boost of confidence, a bunch of new ideas for your termly programme, and maybe even a new hobby.
