Our Beavers are getting ready to trade their hiking boots for camera straps as we announce the Beaver Photography Badge Day! This isn’t just about taking a quick selfie; it’s a creative, hands-on day designed to help our Beavers explore the world through a new lens. Whether they’re capturing a tiny bug on a leaf or a high-action shot of their friends, our young people will be learning how to tell a story through images.
What’s the Focus?
Throughout the day at Raywell Park, Beavers will work through their badge criteria in a fun and supportive environment. They’ll be:
- Mastering the Gear: Learning how to hold and use a camera (or device) safely.
- The Art of the Shot: Understanding what actually makes a “good” photo.
- Exploring Styles: Trying everything from portraits to action shots.
- Nature & Indoors: Taking advantage of the beautiful surroundings at Raywell to practice their new skills.
- Review & Reflect: Talking about their favorite shots and why they like them.
Why Photography?
The Photography badge is a brilliant way to help young people develop focus, patience, and a keen eye for detail. It encourages them to notice the small things in the world around them and gives them a creative outlet to express their ideas. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to build confidence as they see their own work come to life!
