Dinghy Sailing Instructors Required

Dinghy Sailing Instructors Required

Sailing as an activity has been available via the Scout sailing team in Humberside County Scout area for the last six years. Due to its success the County’s sailing team are looking for new recruits to assist with the sailing days throughout each sailing season.

The season consists of six Saturday sessions between April and October. In addition the team performs boat maintenance on a further 2 days outside of the sailing season.

REQUIREMENTS

Team members have to be able to sail to a standard equivalent to, or above The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Level 2 in Dinghy Sailing. Anyone belonging to the team has to apply for and hold a current Activity Permit for sailing via the Scout Association.

ALREADY GOT THE QUALIFICATIONS AND WANT TO GET INVOLVED?

Anyone holding the relevant qualification and interested in joining the team is encouraged to show their interest by email to sailing@humbersidescouts.org.uk Please state in your email the relevant qualifications that you hold and your current role within Scouting.

FUNDED TRAINING

In addition an opportunity has arisen for three adults to receive funded training via Humberside Scout Council, to be trained to the required level to join the County’s Scout sailing team.

Training has been provisionally booked for the weekends of 20th / 21st and 27th / 28th May 2017. For anyone receiving funded training there will be an expectation of a commitment to supporting the team on a minimum of 4 sailing sessions and 1 maintenance session per year for three years.

As a team member you will become a County Skills Instructor. The appointment will necessitate the appointee to hold a current DBS which would be sourced via The Scout Association.

NEED THE TRAINING, BUT WANT TO GET INVOLVED?

Expressions of interest in receiving the funded training are encouraged from both Leaders and Lay members. Please email your interest to sailing@humbersidescouts.org.uk Please indicate your current role within Scouting.

All expressions of interest for funded training will be considered over the weekend of 15th April 2016.
