Skills Matter

Skills Matter: The Have a Go Day for Humberside Volunteers
Don’t Miss Out — Your Next Skill Starts Here
If you’re a volunteer in Humberside Scouts and you’re ready to level up your programme, this is the day for you.
Skills Matter is our free, hands-on event designed to help you discover new activities, sharpen existing skills, and walk away feeling confident to try something different with your young people. It’s relaxed, practical, and built around real Scouting experiences.
Miss it, and you might just miss the skill that transforms your section.
What’s On Offer
This is a proper have a go day. No long presentations — just opportunities to get stuck in:
– Axe throwing
– Climbing wall
– Archery
– Cave Bus
– Arts and crafts
– DofE & Top Awards
– Digital tools
– Knife skills
– And plenty more to explore
Whether you’re looking to add adventure to your programme or build confidence in delivering awards, there’s something here for every section and every experience level.
Why It Matters
Great leaders don’t stand still. They try new things, build skills, and share that energy with their young people.
Skills Matter gives you the chance to:
– Boost your confidence in delivering adventurous activities
– Pick up practical tips from experienced volunteers
– Discover tools and ideas you can use straight away
– Connect with other leaders across the County
It’s about building capability — and doing it together.
Free, Friendly, and Full of Opportunity
It’s completely free.
Come along, see friends, grab a coffee, and try something new. No pressure. No expectations. Just a supportive space to explore what’s possible.
You’ll leave with new ideas, new skills, and maybe even a new favourite activity.
See you at Skills Matter.
