A Taste of the World: International Cooking Night at Elloughton-cum-Brough Scouts

Mix It. Make It. Taste It.

Our Squirrels are heading into the kitchen for a fun-filled Super Chef Badge Day.

This hands-on event is designed to help young people complete their Super Chef badge while learning simple, safe and practical cooking skills. It’s all about building confidence, trying new foods and having a go.

Aprons on. Hands washed. Let’s get cooking.

What They’ll Be Doing

Throughout the day, Squirrels will work through activities linked directly to their Super Chef badge criteria, including:

– Learning basic kitchen safety and hygiene
– Preparing simple ingredients
– Making easy, healthy recipes
– Exploring different flavours and food groups
– Tasting and talking about the food they’ve made

All activities are age-appropriate and carefully supervised by experienced volunteers, with safety at the centre of everything we do.

Why It Matters

The Super Chef badge helps Squirrels to:

– Build independence
– Develop fine motor skills
– Learn about healthy eating
– Gain confidence trying new things
– Work together and share fairly

By the end of the day, they’ll have made progress towards their badge and discovered that cooking can be both fun and rewarding.
