When a young person gets hurt on camp, someone has to know what to do in the first two minutes. Across Humberside that comes down to one thing: whether the adult standing there has been trained, and whether the training was any good.
That is what this role looks after. We are looking for a First Aid Team Leader to join the County Team and lead how First Response training is delivered across Humberside.
What you’ll help lead
- Delivering First Response courses, face to face and online
- Making sure there are enough courses across Humberside to meet demand
- Supporting and coordinating our First Response Trainers
- Organising external certificate validations and CPR practicals
- Working with the Volunteering Development Team Leader and keeping an eye on the County First Aid inbox
You will not be expected to do everything yourself. This is a leadership and coordination role. You will build and support a team of trainers rather than personally running every course.
How much time does it take?
In a typical month, around two to three hours. Most of that is email, planning and keeping the diary of courses moving, and you can do it whenever suits you rather than on a fixed evening.
On top of that there are course dates spread across the year, and you pick which ones you go to. If work or family gets busy for a few weeks, the team covers. That is rather the point of having a team.

- Scouts trainer learning, so you are properly equipped to teach it
- Real training, facilitation and coordination experience that stands up on a CV
- Out of pocket expenses covered, so volunteering does not cost you money
- A County Team around you who will back you up and answer the daft questions
You don’t need to already be part of the team
A lot of people read something like this and think they are not qualified enough. If you are organised, you get on with people and you are willing to learn, you are qualified enough. We will sort the rest, including the first aid qualification and the trainer learning.
Already have first aid, teaching or training experience from work or elsewhere? Brilliant. We welcome experience from outside Scouts and can recognise relevant qualifications you already hold, so you are not made to redo things you have already done.
