Be Flood Ready 2026
BeFloodReady 2026 is a free event open to all young people in Scouting and Girlguiding across Humberside and beyond, bringing together experts from across the flood industry to explore one of the biggest challenges facing communities across the UK.
Taking place as part of National Flood Action Week, this exciting and interactive day will help young people understand flooding, learn how to prepare for it, and discover how individuals and communities can respond when flooding occurs. Through hands-on activities, teamwork and expert-led sessions, participants will gain valuable knowledge while having fun and making a difference.
What They’ll Be Doing:
Throughout the day, young people will take part in a range of activities tailored to their Section, including:
- Learning about different types of flooding and why they happen
- Exploring the impact flooding can have on people, homes, businesses and wildlife
- Discovering how to prepare for flood risks and keep communities safe
- Taking part in practical emergency planning and response challenges
- Meeting professionals from across the flood and water management industry
- Learning about the actions individuals can take before, during and after flooding
- Completing interactive activities recorded in their own Flood Passport
- Working towards earning a brand new BeFloodReady 2026 blanket badge
Activities will be age-appropriate, engaging and designed to encourage curiosity, teamwork and resilience.

By the end of the day, every young person will have completed their Flood Passport, developed a greater understanding of flooding and its impacts, and earned their exclusive BeFloodReady 2026 blanket badge. The best bit, all the activities link with current programme badges for every section.
What You Need to Do
This event is completely free for all young people in Scouting and Girlguiding across Humberside and beyond. To secure your places, simply complete the booking form with your expected numbers.
All we ask is that leaders:
- Confirm numbers when booking
- Maintain appropriate ratios throughout the day
- Supervise their young people during activities
- Ensure all participants wear top half uniform, bring a packed lunch and suitable clothing for the weather
