If you were scanning the crowds at our local St. George’s Day events this past weekend, you might have noticed a very familiar face was missing. Usually, Alan is at the heart of the action, helping lead the way and celebrating with the rest of us.
However, he had a more than valid “excuse” for his absence this year. While we were celebrating locally, Alan was making his way to Windsor Castle for one of the proudest moments of his life.
The Highest Honor: The Silver Wolf
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Alan was invited to Windsor to be formally presented with the Silver Wolf Award.
For those who may not be familiar with Scouting’s highest honors, the Silver Wolf is not handed out lightly. It is the unrestricted gift of the Chief Scout and is only awarded for service of the most exceptional nature. It is the pinnacle of recognition within the movement, representing years—often decades—of tireless dedication, leadership, and a commitment to changing young lives.
A Day to Remember at Windsor
The presentation took place as part of the annual National Scout Service at St. George’s Chapel. Surrounded by the historic walls of Windsor Castle, Alan joined a select group of honorees from across the country to be recognized for their outstanding contributions.
It is a fitting backdrop for an award of this magnitude, and a well-deserved moment of the spotlight for someone who usually spends his time shining it on others.
Congratulations, Alan!
While we certainly missed his presence at our local celebrations, we couldn’t be more proud to see Alan recognised on a national stage. His passion for Scouting has left an indelible mark on our community, and this Silver Wolf is a testament to the impact he has made.
