utumn is in full swing, and Sutton Methodist Cubs have been taking full advantage of the season with a fantastic “Back to Basics” Autumn Camp!
There’s nothing quite like getting out into nature as the leaves start to turn, and the Cubs have been getting stuck into classic outdoor skills, building independence, and having a brilliant time in the woods.

This camp has been all about hands-on learning, teamwork, and enjoying the great outdoors. Here are just a few of the highlights:
- Pitching Camp: Learning how to put up tents is a classic rite of passage! The Cubs rolled up their sleeves and worked together to peg down guy lines, slot poles, and get camp set up for the weekend.
- Fire Lighting Skills: The young people learned essential outdoor safety and traditional fire-building techniques, discovering how to gather the right tinder and kindling to spark a flame.
- Cozy Log Fires: Nothing beats gathering around a roaring log fire on an autumn evening! It provided the perfect backdrop for sharing stories, keeping warm, and enjoying camp life together.
- Woodland Adventures: From exploring the local woodland to learning about nature, the woods provided an endless playground for discovery and adventure.
