ast weekend, Scouts from 2nd Immingham Scout Group, 5th Grimsby (Scartho) Scout Group, and 6th Cleethorpes Scout Group teamed up for an unforgettable autumn adventure at Primrose Hill Campsite.
Putting their back-to-basics camping and bushcraft skills to the test, the young people showed incredible teamwork, determination, and resourcefulness throughout the weekend!
Putting Survival Skills to the Test 🪵🪓
From learning traditional outdoor techniques to putting them into practice under the trees, the joint weekend gave the Scouts a true taste of survival camping:
- Cooking Over Open Fires: The groups embraced classic camp craft, preparing and cooking their meals over open fires.
- Traditional Camp Gadgets: Using pioneering techniques and natural materials, the Scouts designed and built custom gadgets to improve their campsite setup.
- Shelter Building: Working together in teams, the Scouts planned, designed, and constructed their very own woodland shelters from scratch.
The Ultimate Challenge: Sleeping Under the Stars 🌌
Building a shelter is one thing, but living in it is where the real adventure begins!
The ultimate test of the weekend came when several Scouts chose to swap a cozy, modern tent for a night inside the hand-built shelters they created. Sleeping under the cover of the trees on a crisp autumn night transformed a routine camping trip into a real-life survival experience—an achievement every single one of them can be proud of!
Joint events like this highlight the strength of our local Scouting community, bringing groups together to share skills, build new friendships, and push their boundaries in a safe, supportive environment.
