What an incredible week! 76 young people and volunteers from across Humberside recently returned from an epic adventure to Disneyland Paris. It was a trip of "firsts" for many—first time abroad, first overnight coach trek, and for some, the first time meeting a real-life superhero!
The Great Cross-Channel Trek
The journey was an adventure in itself. Our group took the "scenic route," travelling by coach overnight and crossing the Channel by ferry. There was a fantastic sense of camaraderie as we watched the sunrise from the deck, knowing we were just hours away from the gates of Disney. After settling into our hotels, it was time to get stuck into the magic.
Double the Parks, Double the Fun
With two parks to explore—Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios—the Cubs were spoilt for choice. From the classic fairy-tale charm of Sleeping Beauty Castle to the high-octane thrills of the newer zones, there was something for every Scout.
- Thrills & Spills: The braver Cubs (and leaders!) took on the "big hitters" like Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain and the hair-raising drops of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
- Immersive Worlds: We shrunk down to the size of a rat on the Ratatouille adventure and teamed up with the Avengers at the Marvel Avengers Campus.
- Character Encounters: A huge highlight was seeing the Cubs’ faces light up as they met their favourites. From high-fives with Mickey and Minnie to spotting Elsa and Anna in the spectacular parades, the character magic was everywhere.
Scouting Spirit on Display
Even when we had a heavy downpour on Thursday, the Humberside spirit was unshakable. The Cubs simply donned their waterproofs and used the hour to grab some snacks and plan their next move. It takes more than a bit of French rain to dampen the spirits of a Humberside Scout!
Memories for a Lifetime
A huge "Bravo" to the 76 Cubs and leaders who made this trip so special. Whether it was the thrill of the rides, the evening illuminations over the castle, or just the fun of sharing a hotel room with their best friends, these are memories that will last a lifetime.
"I’ve literally been counting down the days since I was five." - Extremely excited cub who didn't sleep on the first night
Whether it was dodging the rain or finally high-fiving Mickey Mouse, the spirit of Humberside Scouts was on full display in Paris. We’ve returned home exhausted, proud, and already dreaming of the next destination.
