The spirit of Scouting was in full swing this past weekend at Raywell Park Activity Centre.

Our County Lead Volunteer (CLV), Gary McCune, has extended a massive “thank you” to the dedicated team of volunteers who turned out for our latest site work day. The results speak for themselves, and the impact on our county’s premier activity hub is undeniable.

Progress You Can See

It’s easy to underestimate what a group of motivated volunteers can achieve in a single weekend. From vital maintenance to aesthetic improvements, the volume of work completed was staggering.

“The amount of work undertaken was amazing and the site looks great,” says Gary McCune. “Every time we hold these days we make a huge difference, and the site looks better each time. We can only do this with the help of our volunteers.”

Why These Days Matter

Raywell Park is more than just a campsite; it’s the backdrop for the memories our young people make. By keeping the site in top-tier condition, our volunteers are directly supporting the growth and safety of every Squirrel Beaver, Cub, Scout, and Explorer in Humberside.

The impact of the work day includes:

  • Enhanced Safety: Clearer paths and well-maintained boundaries.
  • Better Facilities: Upgraded areas for activities and camping.
  • Cost Savings: By doing this work ourselves, we can reinvest more funds back into Scouting facilites.

Join the Team

As Gary highlighted, these transformations are only possible because of you. Giving your time to support the site is one of the most practical ways to give back to the movement.

Whether you’re a regular at Raywell or have never picked up a rake before, your contribution makes the site better for everyone. We look forward to seeing even more of you at the next one!

A final thank you from Gary and the entire County Team for your incredible hard work this weekend.
