UK Parliament Week (UKPW) is returning from 23–29 November, and it is the perfect opportunity for young people across Humberside to discover how democracy works, make their voices heard, and build skills for life.
Whether your group meets in Hull, Scunthorpe, Grimsby, Beverly, or anywhere across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, Scouts are known for taking action and changing their communities. UK Parliament Week gives our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers a fun, hands-on way to understand how decisions are made locally and nationally—and how they can influence them!

UK Parliament provides a 100% free activity kit delivered straight to your meeting place or home address. The kit is packed with ready-to-use resources so you can run a themed session without extra stress or budget.

- YouShape Award (Represent section):Use UKPW as an opportunity for young people to reach out to local decision-makers (such as local councillors or MPs) to explain what they love about their section and what matters to them in their local community.
- Explorer Scouts Democracy Activity Badge:If you lead an Explorer Unit, running UKPW activities is a great way to kickstart this badge, which focuses on using your voice and getting involved in decision-making processes.
- The Scouts Manifesto:Show your young people how Scouts campaign on a national level by exploring the Scouts Manifesto. It’s a great conversation starter on how youth voice drives real change. (Remember to review the political campaigning guidelines when inviting elected officials!)

- Invite a local representative: Reach out to your local MP or Ward Councillor across Humberside (in-person or over Zoom) to answer questions from your young people.

- Get crafting: Try parliament-themed crafts, baking, or trivia quizzes using your free kit.
