County Scout Camp 2017

6pm Friday 28th April -
2:30pm Monday 1st May 2017

Guaranteed! A fantastic weekend of fun, challenge and adventure, coming to you - at a very affordable price.

Building on the fantastic success of our County Scout Camp in 2015, Deputy County Commissioner, Alan Hayward has risen to the challenge to champion the event once again - only next time, he's going to make it bigger and better, for more young people and still maintaining a very affordable price, making sure the event is open and available to as many young people as possible from across the County.

As the time gets nearer, more information will be added about the camp and the great activities that will be on offer during the weekend - Watch this space!

Update - April 2016

We're on with the planning for the event already and progress is well under way. It may seem like a long way off, but it will soon be upon us!  So, what have we done so far?

Update - February 2017

Bookings have been coming in thick and fast and there are already almost 200 people booked in, with groups participating from every District. All Health forms and Leader information has been added (below) to help groups with their planning. We have booked a number of activities and continue to look at more as we get more participants.

Update - March 2017

With only 8 weeks or so to go we have 16 Groups booked in and around 200 Scouts. I’m pleased to see that every District in the County is going to be represented.

I hope that those Groups who are coming are thinking about the activity that they will be contributing and that they let me know by the end of the month.  I want to draw up a list of these activities and aim to avoid duplication. I have already received details of some of the activities that are coming and these include a giant slide, a bungee run, a tight rope walk and cord weaving..

As well as all the onsite activities at Raywell we will be bringing in Glass Engraving and the Mini Tanks are back as well as a major secret activity.

We’ll reveal details when our negotiations are finalised.

Troop leaders also need to think about their challenge for the KO Competition on the Monday.

Balance of monies to Raywell by 31st March 2017

At registration on the Friday night we need

  • A copy of the Permission to Shoot Form
  • A copy of the Health Forms for all Young People and Adults [The adult forms can be submitted in a named  sealed envelope  that would only be accessed if   medically required]
  • We will keep the Shooting Forms and Health Forms centrally so I suggest that you bring two copies of each, giving one in at booking and retaining one.
  • We also need sight of the Nights Away Notification submitted to your DC and I must have prior notice if any troop wants to camp on my Nights Away Permit.

Looking forward to seeing you all - More in a few weeks.

Camp information

Budget

We've set the budget and the price will remain, as it was in 2015. We want it to be accessible to as many people as possible, so the price will remain at £18.00 for the weekend (this excludes food and transport).

Format

The camp will follow the previous format. Based at Raywell, we won't be incurring expense of shipping people all over to off site locations - this just takes time and costs money. What we can promise though, is a weekend full of exciting and adventurous activities - all in one place

We need you!

We need your ideas and suggestions on activities that you would like to see on the camp - we're open to any reasonable ideas (so long as they're not illegal, immoral or impossible!).

Camp Identity

The badge design has been completed and will be issued very soon - keep an eye out on our facebook page for it being released!
