Young Leader Training Weekend - B, D & F

7pm Friday 21st -
12pm Sunday 23rd, February 2020

A chance to complete modules of the Young Leader Training Scheme, meet other Young Leaders and swap ideas.

Young Leaders from across the County come together to undertake some of their progressive training.  A fun and challenging weekend with activities, tasks and discussions taking place with an opportunity to socialise in the evening.

Modules

We have changed when we are delivering each Module to allow best use of our time over the training weekends, so please look carefully at the Modules being run on this weekend.

This weekend will provide training for Modules E, G & H, with Module A being run on Saturday morning too.

Please indicate which Modules you need to do when you book on through Online Scout Manager.

Module Timings

Saturday Module A : 9:00am - 12:30pm (Activities will be running for those that don't need Mod A during this time.)

Saturday Module B & D : 1:30pm - 5:30pm

Sunday Module F : 9:00am - 10:30am

Sunday Presentations : 11:30am - 12:00pm

YLs are welcome to drop in and out of the weekend to complete the Modules that they need, they don't have to stay over for the whole weekend.

Missions

We are no longer requiring Young Leaders to come and spend the weekend "writing up" their Missions with us. We are happy for these to be done in their own time and either shown to the Young Leader Leader in your District or brought to the County Young Leader Support Team at any time during the training weekend, to be signed off.

If you would prefer to visit us during the weekend, then just let us know when you will be arriving so we can have the kettle on!

Activities

As requested at previous training weekends, we will be offering activities to those not completing Module A on the Saturday morning around the theme of Scouting Skills. We also have activities planned for Saturday evening too, so don't forget your outdoor clothes and shoes too!

Accommodation

For this training weekend we have a limited number of indoor beds available, which will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Once these beds are full, we are happy to continue accepting bookings for YLs to camp outside. If they wish, they can opt to camp outside in the first instance and you should indicate this on the form.

If all the beds are full, YLs are welcome to still attend for the training Modules and commute to and from Raywell each day.

What to bring

Don't forget your Young Leader Logbook if you already have one.

You'll also need walking boots, waterproofs and warm clothes suitable for outdoor activities.

Full uniform is no longer required for these events. You should wear casual Scouting clothing (iScout, group/unit t-shirts) and neckers are nice to be worn for receiving your certificates at the end of the weekend.

All electrical items are brought at your own risk. We may ask you to use devices with internet access at certain points during the training modules, such as to find Programme ideas online, otherwise we expect Young Leaders to be respectful of when they use these.

Leaders

Explorer Leaders or Section Leaders are welcome to visit any of the training over the weekend. A member of the County Young Leader Support Team will always be available to answer any questions you have.

Cost

Young Leader training is now offered free of charge to all Young Leaders. However, you still need to book and the County reserve the right to make a charge of £10 per person for any places booked where people do not turn up or cancel prior to the weekend.

Bookings

We are now using an online system called Online Scout Manager to easily coordinate all our admin for Young Leader Training. It is a safe, secure and GDPR compliant system that saves Leaders a lot of time and it also saves a lot of paper. This system also has a portal for Parents/Guardians to access and provide us with all the details we need, without having to complete any paper forms.

If you have booked onto a Training Weekend through OSM before, then you will receive an email inviting you direct from OSM.

If you haven't booked on to a YL Training weekend through OSM before, then parents should email yladmin@humbersidescouts.org.uk with your young person’s name, date of birth and their Scout Group. We will then send you a link to access the portal. Please note, this email must come from a parent, not the Young Leader.
