Duke of Edinburgh's Award

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) is a voluntary, non-competitive programme of activities for anyone aged 14-24.

Undertaking their DofE gives young people the opportunity to experience new activities or develop existing skills.

Within Scouting, this links directly to the chief scout’s platinum, diamond and Queen’s scout awards.

Humberside Scouts are proud to be a provider of the Duke of Edinburgh Award and we actively encourage our young people to partake in the award alongside the Chief Scouts Awards, that can effectively give them a 'two for one' offering.

You can download the application form from the bottom of this section, or if you have any questions, please get in touch with our Duke of Edinburgh Advisers who will be happy to help you in the planning, organising and assessment of your award.

Completed forms need to be returned to the address on the form.

Award Levels

There are three progressive levels of programmes which, when successfully completed, lead to a bronze, silver or gold award. Young people create their own DofE programme by choosing volunteering, physical and skills activities, going on an expedition and, for their gold only, taking part in a residential activity.

Activities for each DofE section take a minimum of one hour a week over a set period of time, so they can be fitted in around academic study, hobbies and social lives. Development and regular progress must be shown and all activities must be completed by the participant’s 25th birthday.
