Clay Pigeon Shooting - Safety Officer Course

Clay Pigeon Shooting - Safety Officer Course

In order to run clay pigeon shooting activities with Scouts, instructors are required to hold the BASC or CPSA Safety Officers Course.

Grimsby and Cleethorpes District have managed to arrange for a 1 day course for adult members at a subsidised rate. The normal rate would be £130.00 but with the subsidy the cost has been reduced by half (£65.00).

However, participants must satisfy the following criteria

  • Be an experienced clay or game shooter with knowledge of a large variety of sporting targets.
  • Held a shotgun certificate for a minimum of 4 years.
  • Experience with automatic and manual clay pigeon traps.
  • Ability to complete complicated forms.
  • Must be over  21 years.

No dates have been set yet but we are looking at dates in January and February. For the course to run there needs to be between 4 or 5 additional people. The course will be held in Derbyshire.

If you are interested please contact Mike Waters  (DC of Grimsby and Cleethorpes) with your contact details and any dates you are unable to do in January and February.

Following the course there will be a further opportunity to undertake the Shotgun Coaches Course. This normally costs about £750 but again they have managed to arrange for 50% funding (There may be other funding available from HQ to reduce the cost further).
