Programme Sparks

68. Tour de Humberside

Resources

Time

  • Bikes of various sizes
  • Turbo trainers or bike rollers
  • Exercise bikes

One day or more, depending on the distance to be covered.

Programme Spark

Within your Section or Group, set yourselves a challenge of a distance to travel on bikes, such as; Lands End to John O'Groats or around the perimeter of the County. Also set yourself a reasonable time limit to do it in.

Young people and Leaders can arrive throughout the day, cycle as far as they can in an allotted time then pass the bike on to the next person to have their go. You could also have other biking related activities going on at the same time, such as; pumping up a tyre, fixing puncture, etc.

This could be a fantastic fundraising opportunity by making it a sponsored event.

Adapting for each Section

Badge Links

Younger Sections will have a shorter time to bike for and a bike appropriate to their size.

Older Sections could complete parts of it on their own bikes, out and about on cycling trails.
