Yi Peng is a festival celebrated in Thailand and the surrounding countries. During this festival houses, streets, towns and cities are lit up by lanterns.

To make these lanterns you will first of all need an empty tin can for each member of your Section. Fill the cans with water and freeze them at least 24hrs beforehand. During your meeting, the young people should mark a pattern using only dots on the tin can using a pen. Where each dot is marked, use a nail and hammer to make a hole from the outside in. The ice inside helps to keep the can stable and stops any fingers getting in the way when hammering the nails into it.

Once the ice has defrosted, put a tealight inside the can and admire your flickering pattern.
