Pap a Pumpkin 768x432

Pap-a-Pumpkin

7am Saturday 31st October -
11pm Sunday 1st November 2020

Pap-a-Pumpkin is a giant wide game which everyone can play across the County!

Pap-a-Pumpkin is a giant wide game which everyone can play across the County on Saturday 31st October and Sunday 1st November.

It has been organised by Durham Scout County, with pumpkins from all over the North East Region shown on the map! They are colour coded by Scout County to help you find the Humberside ones.

The idea is for our everyone to 'pap' - take a photograph of (taken from the work 'paparazzi') - as many pumpkins as possible over the weekend, with their household. Anyone can take part over the weekend of 31st October / 1st November. You don't have to be a member of The Scouts to take part - but after joining in we hope that you'll think about joining us.

What to do...

1. Prepare a Pumpkin

We are inviting our youth members and their families, our volunteers and our supporters to prepare (carve and/or dress up) a pumpkin.

We hope that everyone who plans to go out and pap-a-pumpkin will also take the time to prepare a pumpkin for others to find. Take a look at Durham's Prepare-a-Pumpkin page to find out how to prepare your pumpkin and the requirements for it's location.

All pumpkins should be in position by the evening of Friday 30th October 2020.

Durham have created a poster to put out with your pumpkin to tell everyone what we are doing. We have also created a Humberside specific one too so any local joining enquiries end up in the right place. This can be downloaded below.

2. Tell us where your pumpkin is

You will need to use the What Three Words app or website to determine the exact location of your pumpkin. Full instructions on how to do this can be found on Durham's website page.

Submit your pumpkin's location through the Form here: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=WLCQE3a07ECXVjT1dhskaqY4GpPsEA9OufAc2f45kLRUMUJCVUk0RjZPMzQzNlNSTFdIR0I2R0JUSy4u

3. Get out and about and pap-a-pumpkin!

Over the weekend of 31st October (Halloween) and 1st November you can use our Pap-a-Pumpkin Map to find and photograph as many pumpkins as you can.

We hope that Scout Groups and Districts will set up their own 'pumpkin trails' by sharing the locations of their pumpkins with each other, so that our young people and their families can have some fun even if many of us can't Trick or Treat this year.

You can use the What Three Words or Google Maps app on your smart phone, or you can create your own map if you don't have a smartphone.

Full details on how to use the map can be found on Durham's Pumpkin Papping Page

The Google map can be found on Durham's Website, or directly through this link: https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/viewer?mid=1ufHhf_UsxLRYoWsUKOFdKIBoTAemDyQn&ll=54.727335206143074%2C-1.9210189884706708&z=8

Please remember to adhere to any local COVID restrictions and stay safe if out and about in the dark.

4. Share the photographs of pumpkins that you pap-ed!

Adults can join the Pap-a-Pumpkin Facebook Page set up by Durham County and it would be great to see lots of photographs on our own Humberside Facebook and Twitter too!
