Scouts will be able to tick off all the requirements of the Scouts DIY Activity Badge during this badge day and will be able to take the items that they have made home with them.
We will be looking at different equipment and safety matters, looking at DIY emergencies and take part in a major DIY project. We will be making things, drilling things, fixing things, putting stuff back together and taking it apart. There's even chocolate involved!
Bookings
Scout Troops can sign up as a troop via their Scout Leader.
Please book your Troop on via the online form here: https://forms.office.com/e/32MvixigLJ
If you use the Parent Portal function of OSM, we will then share the OSM Event with your Section, to replace the need for paper health forms for the day.
If you do not use the Parent Portal function of OSM, please indicate this on the online booking form and we will send you the paper forms to be completed instead.
Leaders
Leaders need to attend with their Scouts in the correct ratios. We will need volunteers to help out on bases as well, so if you have any spare leaders or parent helpers, please invite them along too. No DIY experience is needed, just adults for supervision, and members of the Events Team will be on hand to help too.
What to bring
Scouts will need:
- Scout necker
- Suitable clothes for carrying out DIY (it may get messy)
- Closed shoes/trainers (no sliders, croc type shoes, or flip flops)
- Day sack
- Packed lunch and reusable drinks bottle
- Waterproofs
- Sun hat or warm hat, depending on the weather.
Photographs, Videos and Audio
Throughout the badge day, Leaders will be capturing the great fun that the Scouts are having via photos, videos and audio recordings.
Parents/Carers should ensure they sign or do not sign the box on the Young Person Health Form accordingly and Troop Leaders should ensure the Events Team are made aware of any young people who cannot have their photos, videos or audio shared publicly.
