North Lincolnshire District Leaders Camp

North Lincolnshire Scouts District Leaders Camp

Designed to showcase activities at Primrose Hill Campsite and to share skills between instructors and leaders, this inaugural event has been a great success.

Primrose Hill offers archery, air-rifles and crate stacking in hundreds of acres of beautiful North Lincolnshire woodland.

Leaders shared their knowledge and experiences over two nights and represented Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers plus valuable Occasional Helpers. District and County officials were also able to give up their time to attend.

Seven North Lincolnshire Groups were represented and skills shared included fire-lighting by various methods, char-cloth making, map reading. navigation, hiking, paracord bracelets, pioneering, knots and crafts.

The event was not just about the activities, but the banter around the dinner-table and the camp fire as well.

Groups represented were 1st & 2nd Brigg, 1st Goxhill & Barrow, 1st Kirton, 5th Ashby, 6th Scunthorpe (Messingham), 10th Scunthorpe and 16th Scunthorpe.

District Commissioner Angela Bradley said: "I am pleased leaders and helpers from all our sections gave up their valuable time.
Everyone who came was able to pass on something whether a skill or experience, so we all left a little bit richer than when we arrived."

It's hoped to stage a similar weekend in 2016 and possibly a programme-sharing weekend as well.

The camp was funded entirely by North Lincolnshire District Scouts.
