The outdoors is where adventures come to life — and St. Cuthbert’s Beavers proved just that during their orienteering experience at East Park.

With maps in hand and eager energy all around, the Beavers set out to explore the park using their navigation skills to locate a series of hidden codes spread throughout the area. From the very beginning, the group demonstrated brilliant teamwork — helping one another read maps, stay on course, and communicate clearly as they worked toward a shared goal.

What really stood out on this trip was the confidence and skill shown by some of our youngest members. Orienteering is no small challenge — it combines direction, spatial awareness, and patience — and they embraced it with enthusiasm and focus.

As they moved through the park’s wooded paths and open spaces, a special moment unfolded: a group of deer approached the fence line, offering the Beavers a rare and close-up wildlife encounter. It was a magical pause in an already active day and a reminder of the connection between outdoor exploration and nature.

The experience wasn’t just about finding markers — it was about building resilience, practising communication, and enjoying the freedom of the outdoors in a safe and supportive setting. The fantastic weather added an extra touch of joy, making it a great day all around.

A big well done to all the Beavers who took part. Your curiosity, teamwork, and adventurous spirit continue to shine. We’re looking forward to many more days of exploration and discovery ahead!
