The 5th Beverley Wesley Scout Group have been busy once again—this time putting their teamwork and creativity to the test with a unique (and slightly sticky!) engineering challenge.

During their recent meeting, the Scouts were tasked with building bridges out of cocktail sticks and marshmallows, testing their problem-solving skills, cooperation, and structural imagination. It was a hands-on, fun-filled evening that showed exactly what Scouting is all about.

But it wasn’t just about bridges…

The group also took time to recognise two incredible young people—Alexander and Alex—for their involvement in Operation Lifestyle. Nicknamed the Recycling Rescuers, the pair raised nearly £300 over the summer by organising litter picks and selling second-hand goods. Their efforts will go directly toward funding new equipment for water-based activities across the district. A fantastic example of community action and leadership!

Later in the evening, the Scouts were joined by Martin from the Beverley Town Twinning Association, who gave a fascinating talk about Beverley’s links with towns in Germany, Italy, and France. He then presented a prize to Ted, who won the association’s recent art competition. A huge well done to Ted and everyone who took part!

From learning practical skills to engaging with their wider community, the 5th Beverley Wesley Scout Group continues to showcase what makes Scouting in Humberside so special.
