Programme Spark

Within your Section, explore different ways to light and build a fire.

You could be trying out different ways to create a spark and then testing different materials for tinder and kindling.

Then move on to discussing the 3 things that a fire needs to burn and how we maintain these. Whilst doing this you could test how different woods burn and how these could be used for different uses of fire in Scouting.

Lastly, discuss and demonstrate how to stay safe around a fire and how to extinguish it properly.

Adapting for each Section
