Skills Matter

9am Saturday 14th -
12pm Sunday 15th, April 2018

It doesn’t matter whether you have 40 years’ experience in Scouting or have just attended your Appointments Panel. We all have skills to pass on, and we all have skills to learn.

Do you excel at certain Scouting skills?
Would you like to pass those skills on?
Would you like to learn from others?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Skills Matter is the event for you.

Open to everyone!

Set in the grounds of Humberside Scouts’ County HQ at Raywell Park, Skills Matter promises to be an exciting weekend.

It doesn’t matter whether you have 40 years’ experience in Scouting or have just attended your Appointments Panel.

We all have skills to pass on, and we all have skills to learn.

This event is open to leaders from ALL our sections: Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers & Network.

When is it?

Book now for our County event over the weekend of April 14-15. Bring your tents or hammocks and have a great time. Or if you wish just camp out under the stars.

You’re also welcome to camp on the Friday evening if you wish.

The programme...

The skills we intend to cover on the Saturday include the following:

  • Fire-lighting
  • Char-cloth making
  • Crafts (All sections)
  • Knots & pioneering
  • Map & compass/electronic navigation
  • First aid
  • Safeguarding
  • Dealing with conflict (Adults & Young People)
  • Axes, knives & saws
  • What makes a ‘good’ camp/residential experience
  • Games
  • Pitching tents
  • Simple cooking over fires

On the Sunday morning we’ll be looking at Programme Support plus Nights Away.

There may be a couple of surprises as well.

Costs

All on-site costs including meals are being met by the County, so you don’t have to dig into your pockets to attend.

You’ll meet leaders from across the county districts, have a chance to make new friends and also renew old acquaintances.

Or maybe just chill-out around the evening campfire and tell a few stories about your experiences in Scouting after a cracking and tummy-filling Saturday-evening BBQ hosted by the County?

We’d love to have you join us.
